Happy Summer!!

I can't believe that 2008 is over half gone! Time flies when you are having fun!!

Even though it is still summer, all the Christmas fabrics have arrived. Be sure to check this website for the new panels and fabrics. Other Christmas fabrics not listed include Snow Wonderland by Whimsicals and Aunt Gracie Christmas by Marcus.

It seems backwards, but the fall fabrics and panels are now coming in. There are some really nice ones with great fall colors.

We have also received In the Pink 2 by Buggy Barn. This is a beautiful line done in pinks and browns. It's similar to the one they had 2 years ago.

 

Victory Quilts, Eleanor Burns newest book has arrived and we will be receiving a trunk show with 3 of the quilts from the book. This will be in the shop July 28 - August 11. Blocks in the quilts are all from the 1940's. We will be offering a lecture/demo class for the large quilt starting in January. Be sure to stop by and see these great quilts!

If you are interested in helping our soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq, there is a web-site www.anysoldier.com that lists needs of those serving our country who do not have a lot of support from home. The site is very user friendly. You can select a unit from any of the branches of the armed services as well as by state. The man in charge of the unit will list what is needed. This may be anything from snack items, to Beanie Babies (to give to Iraqi children), personal care products, games, movies, etc. Please check it out.

QUILTS OF VALOR

(above) These quilts of valor were made by Marilyn Johannassen (2), Marcia Jeffers and Pat Dora. They were sent to the hospital in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Thanks to Carolyn Messer for quilting them.

(above) These 5 quilts of valor also went to Cheyenne, Wyoming. They were made by Linda Fudge (4) and Dorothy Locke and quilted by Carolyn Messer.

Here are the replies I received from the hospital (I sent them in 2 boxes):

"Hi, it's Chris(CDR K-B)--I received the QOV's you sent and want to tell you how much the soldiers and staff appreciate the quilts. We look forward to presenting them to the wounded and usually have the whole staff present when we do so. With their permission we take pictures when we can and I forward them to Catherine Roberts--so please watch the QOV website as I think she will display them shortly and you may see yours there. The soldiers appreciate these quilts so much as they offer them comfort and security. I explain to them how the QOV program got started and they are amazed at the number of quilts given to the soldiers. So please don't stop-know that your efforts are cherished and appreciated by many. The quilts are all so beautiful and such wonderful designs.

Just opened another box of 3 QOV ---MUCHO THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are too much--these mean so much to all of us. I wish you could see the smiles, laughter, solitude, tears of laughter and joy that you bring to faces of many. Pictures don't even reveal how much these mean to them.
